Ian has presented numerous courses for the past 20 years to dentists both Nationally and Internationally (including recent trips to Lithuania, Latvia, Dubai, Russia, Ireland, Spain, Poland, Kuwait, Egypt). His experience is from teaching small hands-on masterclasses, to being a keynote speaker at international conferences to more than five hundred. He has spoken at both the British Dental Association National Conference and the Irish Dental Association Annual Conference.
He is very much a wet fingered dentist, and is a partner in a Central London Private Practice. Here he carries out all manner of general and aesthetic dentistry. His first teaching was over 20 years ago on the subject of Clinical Dental Photography, subject he still teaches to this day, he is the founder of photographyfordentists.com which is now incorporated within the Denter brand.
His main interests are in Minimally Invasive Aesthetic Restorative Dentistry, and Anterior and Posterior Direct Composite. He is a past President of the London Dental Study Club, and is a Guest Lecturer to the King’s College London MSc programmes in Fixed & Removal Prosthodontics. He has been a member of the International Jury Panel for the Global CeramX case contest for the past 4 years. He is an opinion leader and advisor to a number of dental companies and is the author of the Dentsply “how to guide” on simplifying posterior composite restorations.

Dr Gordon Penman | BDS (Hons) MSc MFGDP (UK) MFDS RCS (Eng)
Gordon has over 30 years experience in NHS and Mixed Practice in the East Coast of Scotland. He has extensive experience in Dental Education starting as a Vocational Trainer, then as a Speciality Dentist at Dundee Dental Hospital and School supervising Undergraduate students. He is currently a Dental Practice Advisor for Fife Health Board and involved in strategy development and governance programmes and is lead on the Practice Inspection programme for Fife.
He is a member of the Dentsply Sirona Restorative Key Opinion Leader Group for the UK and has delivered many presentations and hands-on courses on a number of restorative topics including; Posterior composite solutions ; The Endodontic/ Restorative interface ; Simplified aesthetic anterior composite restorations. He also provides post graduate courses for NES and NIMDTA and is currently developing Blending learning programmes for the dental team at NES.
He is a former Chair of the Fife Area Dental Committee and sits on several clinical and governance committees in Fife. In 2021 he was appointed as a Clinical Dental Adviser with the General Dental Council.
